MEET OUR CLINICIANS
Shira Berkowitz, LCSW
Shira graduated from the Jane Addams School of Social Work at The University of Illinois and Chicago in 2002. In 2003, Shira joined The SAFE Foundation as a Prevention Skills teacher for their Project SAFE School Program. Her success led her to become the director of the program in 2010. She is currently the Program Director of Darcheinu and Our Path SEL (social emotional learning), a nationwide program providing children in navigating today’s challenging world.
Shira is trained in EMDR, CBT, and ACT. She has made trauma recovery work a big part of her clinical work. Additionally, she has many years of experience working with adolescents and emerging adults with incredibly positive results.

Sabrina Kinney, LPC LASOP
Sabrina’s pursuit in the mental health field has always been more than a career for her. She truly believes in the power of psychotherapy and human connection. More importantly, Sabrina believes people have the power to access the ability for growth. Sabrina is extremely passionate about trauma-informed care with an unrelenting will to help clients accomplish their goals to live a happier, healthier, and more fulfilled life. She provides a judgement-free zone with compassion, empathy, and a personality that will challenge you to dig deeper and think larger. Her first hand experience living in multiple types of communities share a common thread in that trauma and addiction dismantle the lives, employment, and overall health of whomever it affects no matter their background. Sabrina wants survivors should be celebrated, not feel isolated. As an EMDR trained therapist, Sabrina is helping trauma survivors live their best life.

DJ Shabat, LPC CADC
DJ is a Group Therapist at Illinois Healing Center. His clinical work focuses on helping people who currently or have struggled with drugs and alcohol.

Aviva Vilenski, LPC RN
Aviva received her master’s degree in counseling psychology from Yorkville University in New Brunswick, Canada. Aviva has been working in intensive medical units for over 25 years. This experience has given her a deep understanding of the mind body connection along with an awareness of the strength of the human body and mind. Aviva is a trauma informed therapist and has also worked in substance abuse treatment programs giving her the most upfront seat in the healing from addiction. She believes that no one should have to go through the pain and struggles of life alone. Her passion is rooted in a holistic approach to the complete wellbeing of both the body and mind.
Aviva is also trained in EMDR.

Yankie Greenberger, LCSW CSAT-S
Yankie is a veteran trauma and addiction therapist in the field of psychotherapy.
For 13 years, Yankie served as the clinical director of two community organizations which has collectively supported well over 1000 individuals and families. Yankie has focuses his clinical work specifically on trauma-healing utilizing EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing) and related clinical modalities. Additionally, he is a Certified Sex Addiction Therapist through the International Institute of Trauma and Addiction Professionals (IITAP) as well as an accredited CSAT Supervisor and a Certified Multiple Addiction Therapist (CMAT).
Yankie is currently seeing clients both virtually and in person.
